Lumablu's gunnel guard crab deck is an accessory that protects the gunnel of your boat against scratches and other physical damage while providing additional workspace when crabbing, shrimping and fishing.
Recreational, scientific, commercial, and other boaters may need to work over the sides of their boat to access items on a dock or in the water. Shellfish pots must be set with bait and then sunk to the bottom of the ocean. The pots are often heavy and boaters often rest on the gunnel damaging your boat and your back! When it is time to recover the pot, hopefully it is heavier due to the number of shellfish caught, and recovery may necessitate moving the pot onto the gunnel before getting it on board. This will give you a safe extra work space "without" the constant bending over and seaweed battle.
Each gunnel guard is custom made in Oregon to fit your boat. No permanent attachment or additional holes are necessary for mounting and easily removed when not in use. Lumablu will provide you with clear instructions on how to measure your gunnel for a custom fit.
The pictured gunnel guard above has a 36" x 24" platform - any additions or changes will require a price quote from Lumablu.
Additional 1/2" aluminum sides may be added to the top of the platform to help direct water and seaweed back into the ocean.
*Mounting plates and star bolts are not included, you may add them at check out if needed.

This model sits directly on your boat gunnel secured in place by a high-density marine polyethylene (King Board) tab. No permanent attachment or additional holes are necessary for mounting and easily removed when not in use. Padding used on the underside to protect your boat is made from Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate foam (SeaDek). The platform size on this model is typically 36"x24", but can be easily customized to your preference. Drop your pots, remove your crab deck and go fishing!

This model is made for maximizing your crabbing deck space for boats with smaller gunnels. This model sits directly on the boat rail, locking in place with a stainless steel pin toward the stern end. The bow end is custom fabricated out of high grade aluminum, mounting perfectly to a Scotty 1036 downrigger plate which then rests on the gunnel. If you just like the raised deck look or prefer the mounting location, this can be built simply for preference, either way it is a great option. Easily remove your Over the Rail gunnel guard by simply removing the stainless pin and Scotty screws, now you are ready for fishing!

Similar to the over the rail mount, the rail mounted model mounts directly into a Scotty 1036 downrigger plate and locks in on the rail with a stainless steel pin. The major difference is location. Set further back on the boat, the crab deck sits right where the pre-manufactured downrigger rail plate is on most fishing boats. This allows for no extra holes or drilling needed for install! Simply just set the crab deck on the Scotty plate and rail, lock in with Scotty star bolts and our provided stainless steel pin, and you are set to crab!

This model offers a perfect stern mount option. Whether you need a crab pot deck, a fillet table, or even a BBQ station, the stern mount is perfect for you! It mounts directly to the 90 degree stern rail located at the stern of many boat brands. The locking mechanism involves two stainless steel pins and a welded supporting foot to provide proper stability. No permanent attachment is needed and the aluminum foot is removable or fixed to the deck depending on your needs! Easy to remove and easy to store!
